Cantata Centennial Celebration
Anticipated Calendar of Events
During 2025, Cantata Adult Life Services/The British Home celebrates its centennial with a series of special events and programs. They are designed to link Cantata today with its British heritage, especially its founding by the Daughters of the British Empire and its members sustained support.
These celebrations also will introduce new families to all this not-for-profit organization has to offer by extending its services for older adults and their families in western Cook County and eastern DuPage County. Details for the following events are being confirmed. Here is a calendar of ways to rejoice in the accomplishments of Cantata/The British Home.

Employee Celebration
All-employee “Our celebration begins with you” theme featuring a British-inspired menu paired with 1920s music and an opportunity for employees to predict the future 25 years from now. Each employee receives a shirt with the centennial logo. This party launches a series of parties to honor each department throughout the year.

Book Club
First meeting of a new book club that will meet bi-monthly to discuss mysteries written by British and American authors. “100 Years of Crime,” a collaboration with LSF Brookfield Library, convenes in the Wye Valley Independent Living Community at Cantata.

Book Club
May’s selection is book one of the popular Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman. The book centers around four residents of a retirement community who meet weekly to discuss unsolved murders. In partnership with LSF Brookfield Library, we meet bi-monthly at Wye Valley Independent Living to discuss British and American crime authors.

Midsummer Garden Party
Cantata and the Daughters of the British Empire invite you to a Midsummer Garden Party. Join us for fun, games and afternoon tea. This event is free to all DBE members, residents and their families. Please call 708-387-8185 to RSVP.

Brookfield Community Festival
Day-long festival for the local Brookfield community and the surrounding area. To be held on Cantata’s campus featuring a variety of food items, including fish and chips prepared by several restaurants, other vendors including those with British specialty goods, a “show dog” event that includes a Royal Wags event for a variety of breeds owned by British royalty, and musical performances for many generations of audiences throughout the day and more. Free parking in the lot east of Cantata is compliments of Brookfield Zoo.

Daughters of the British Empire Event
Illinois regional members of Daughters of the British Empire invite members of the national Board and those from other states to dinner or an event to be determined at Cantata.
